The Ukoko r’ Ivie r’ Urhobo(Council of Urhobo Traditional Rulers) and Urhobo Progress Union(UPU) have called for more food and relief materials for the displaced people of Okuama and the rebuilding of the community
A communique issued after a joint EXCO meeting yesterday(18/06/2024) at the Ovie of Uvwie palace, Effurun, signed by the Chairman, Ukoko r’ Ivie r’ Urhobo, HRM Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso, Abe 1, JP. OON, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom and UPU President General, Chief Ese Gam Owe said the Urhobo nation remain committed to sustaining the peace in Delta State and that the Urhobo and Ijaw nation will continue to live in harmony.
They expressed their appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for stopping the killing and counter killings in Okuama-Okoloba axis and the release of the arrested Monarch of Ewu Kingdom, HRM Clement Ikolo, Urukpe 1 from the Nigeria army detention.
The joint EXCOs also expressed their heart-warming appreciation to the Delta State Governor, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori for his pro-active and diplomatic approach in the handling the unexpected breach of security in the area and the eventual release of the Ewu monarch.
They also thanked the three senators representing Delta state, Chief James Ibori, Hon Francis Waive, Urhobo Renaissance Society, Urhobo Historical Society and others for their role and called other well meaning Nigerians to aid the suffering people of Okuama particularly with provision of food and relief materials.
