Hundreds of Uvwie All Progressive Congress(APC) members on Saturday rally support for the leadership of Olorogun O’tega Emerhor and Chief Cyril Ogodo executive committee sworn-in by Chief John Oyegun as the only legally recognized Delta state EXCO
Speaking at a rally in Urhobo College, Effurun yesterday, the APC Chairman, Delta Central, Mr. Akpoedafe Edewor said, “today we affirmed support for the leadership of Ogodo-lead Delta state executive committee sworn in by Chief Oyegun”
He advised APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole not to listen to any lies told him by anybody as the Chief Ogodo lead executive committee followed due process and was sworn in by Chief Oyegun
Mr Edewor called on all Delta state APC members to be steadfast as the current leadership tussle would soon be settled in favour of Emerhor/Ogodo as they would never obey any so-called consent judgement
He reminded APC members that the PDP was their common enemy and that everything must be done to send the Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa lead administration packing as the government had failed woefully to meet the people’s expectations
According to him, most of the major roads in Delta State was being constructed by the NDDC while the few roads done by Gov. Okowa were inferior and often wash away by any little rain fall.
Also speaking Uvwie LGC APC Chairman Mr. Blessing Ileleji pledged Uvwie support for the Emerhor/Ogodo leadership and advised Comrade Oshiomhole to rescind his decision to recognize the Prophet Joe Erue executive committee which did not follow due process
He advised Comrade Oshiomhole to do what was right and not promote animosity between the two brotherly states of Edo and Delta state
The occasion was attended by all the ten wards executives in Uvwie, the APC Arewa branch as well as some national and state executive members
It will be recalled that the Police command in Delta State on Friday stopped Prophet Jones Erue, the APC factional Chairman from accessing the state party Secretariat for the planned inauguration of its factional state executive committee.
When our reporter visited the party’s state Secretariat at Nnabisi road Asaba, men of the Nigeria police force has sealed off the place preventing anybody from gaining access to the building.
Our reporter gathered that the police boss acted based on earlier letter of introduction from the then party’s National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun introducing Chief Cyril Ogodo to the police as the Delta state party Chairman.
On the presence of security men at the party secretariat, Delta Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, confirmed that policemen were there to maintain peace, order and prevent anything that will lead to crisis.
Recall that the Erue faction on Thursday issued a “notice of inauguration of Delta state APC executive committee for Friday,” today, but they were however denied access to the party Secretariat by the police in order to avoid the break down of law and order.
Following this development, Prophet Jones Erue has issued another notice to his factional members, the notice which we obtained from APC group wasapp page reads in part:
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are sorry to announce the postponement of the inauguration of Delta State APC Executive Committee earlier scheduled to hold on Friday 20th July,2018.
We further gathered that the state Commissioner of Police has invited both camp for a meeting in order to set the records right.
