The Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria(ACSPN) will partner with media houses to undertake programmes evaluation, audience based research works in the areas of communication and gender, communication and violence, communication and children and communication and the minorities, Dr. Majority Oji, ACSPN Vice President, South-South Zone has said.
Dr. Oji who spoke in Ejdeba, Warri today when the association paid a courtesy visit to the management of Delta Broadcasting Service(DBS) said the group also has a pool of communication experts who could serve as resource persons to any media organization.
According to him, the group was set up to advance the scholarly study and practice of communication by promoting and facilitating the pursuit of excellence in academic research and professional practice in Nigeria among other objectives
He said the group would also develop programme of high quality scholarly research, publication and knowledge exchange within ACSPN and between ACSPN and organization with similar aims globally.
Dr. Oji said the group would promote evidence-based communication practice in Nigeria as well as a wider public interest in and visibility of the theories, methods, findings and application generated within the context of communication practice in Nigeria
Responding, DBS General Manager, Mr.Tunde Omonode regretted that many people do not appreciate the importance of communication and the need to devote a lot of resource to the media
He expressed delight with the visit of the association and promised to partner with ACSPN as well as encourage DBS journalists to be part of the group towards bridging the gap between scholars and professions
