Unknown gunmen at about 8pm on Saturday kidnapped the immediate past President of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, 
, in Rumualogu, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
It was gathered that the four abductors trailed Wali, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, to Rumualogu, near the Choba-Uniport Road before kidnapping the victim.
According to the Police, the former NBA President was going home while he was kidnapped along the Choba-Uniport Road on the outskirt of Port Harcourt.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Ahmad Muhammad, told Daily Newswatch that Wali’s car which was abandoned at the Ozuoba junction, was later recovered by security operatives from the state police command.
The kidnappers had trailed Wali to the Ozuoba junction, stopped in front of him, shot into the air and dragged him out of his car and reportedly whisked him off through the Choba River in a speed boat.
Muhammad who said the police are on the trail of the kidnappers stated that police gave the kidnappers a hot chase and would have been apprehended save for the speed boat with which they sped off with the victim.
Mohammad who confirmed the incident on Sunday afternon said investigation was on to rescue the ex-NBA President as well as apprehend those behind his abduction.
He said,”As soon as the police got the information of the abduction the Ex-NBA President, we (Police) quickly swung into action where his vehicle was recovered along Ozuoba water front.”
“We are still on their trail with a view of rescuing him safely and possible apprehension”, Mohammad added.
Wali, an indigene of Rivers State was elected as the 26th President of the NBA in 2012.
