The Committee for Defence and Human Rights has said that the absence of true federalism in Nigeria account for failure of democratic government and increasing agitation by the depressed minorities
CDHR in a communiqué signed by its National President, Comrade Sunny Enenuwvwedia and secretary, Comrade M. Akhiakwe at the end of its national executive committee’s meeting in Lagos on September 27 said the influx of Nigeria youths into politics was due largely to kleptocracy and increasing corruption of the ruling class.
It said the advent of Boko Haram and other insurgent groups in the country was caused by the inability of the political elite to control their lust for power which has forced them to equip and train the young ones who later metamorphose into Boko Haram cadres, kidnappers, armed robbers, yahoo plus and ethnic militants
According to the communiqué the continuous starvation and poverty in the country has increasingly become the hallmark of democratic governance increasing degradation of the oil producing areas in the country is not only despicable, criminal, but inhuman having regard to the continuous deprivation of the people’s rights to their daily sustenance and good living
The communiqué said the general insecurity in Northern Nigeria requires a genuine and dispassionate interaction devoid of political sentiment by federal government and its agencies
