The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel E. Sideso, Abe 1 has banned honorary or traditional Chiefs from appearing on television or in any social media to make policy statements that affect the kingdom without his consent and approval.
The Monarch’s proclamation dated 9th June, 2020 personally signed by him and read on DRTV was in reaction to a statement credited to Chief Victor Otomiewo, the Unuevworo R’ Etche Oriokpor on the composition of youth bodies and qualifications for candidates aspiring to positions in future
The Ovie of Uvwie Proclamation states:
“Proclamation by HRM Dr. Emmanuel E. Sideso, Abe 1, JP, OON Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom”
“My Attention was drawn to the DRTV press announcement on the 8th June, 2020 by Unuevworo R’ Eche Oriokpor stating composition of the youth body and qualifications for candidates aspiring to positions in future. While I appreciate his concern and commitments for better administration which could usher in peace to Ekpan and Uvwie Kingdom in particular, there is an existing constitution.
“However, if there are areas to be amended, this must be done and approved by HRM before implementation.
“HRM hereby frowns at, and bans any honourary or traditional Chief appearing on television or in any social media to make public statement that affect the Uvwie Kingdom without any approval. Any such release in future, the defaulter would be suspended from the palace for 6(six) months and other traditional sanctions.
“Any honourary chief or traditional chief who appears on television or social media shabbishly and behaves irresponsibly will be sanctioned.”
