Okay, Obasanjo the LAND THIEF passed a decree called Land Use Decree that became Land use Act. This act is to counter UN Resolution 1803 that says “he who owns the land owns everything on it”. Because of our oil, Obasanjo made this law that said “all lands belong to the government”. Nigeria is the only democracy that lands of human beings was taken from them by proclamation.
However, that is not the point I am trying to make. Now oil-rich lands owned by communities of minorities, where they farm and hunt and build and hope to spread to as they increase, these lands are taken from them as Fed Govt take the land to drill oil. Okay. Much as this goes against the practise worldwide where the land owners own the oil 100 percent, yet let us leave resource control for a minute and ask WHY THE FUCK IS THE LAND NOT OWNED BY GOVERNMENT? Why is it then given to a Nigerian from a distant tribe, from Sultan of Sokoto, to Emir of Kano, to Musa Yar Adua, to IBB, to Abacha etc?
No let me tell you how it is. Let me use an instance. Abacha woke up, realized Theophilus Danjuma, his Godfather and Civil War hero was not rich enough. So he just told him. “GENERAL, you have been nice to me. From today on, you own an oil bloc in Delta state. Come to this map let me show you your oil bloc.” And Danjuma, without even visiting the land, makes calls and he SELLS the land and he is paid, in his own words, ONE BILLION DOLLARS. (many say it was 3 billion dollars. that he did not declare the actual amount).
Now tell me. Why cannot Nigeria sell the lands themselves without first giving it to MIDDLE MEN, all from areas with no oil…. Atiku, Mustapha, Alhaji Alhaji etc? Why is the oil business not between Shell and Chevron and NIGERIA? How can we be allowing people who will only further sell the lands of others own it?
So the Olu of Warri or an Ovie cannot sell oil bloc to Shell? They do not understand business abi? No Pere in Ijaw land understand the value of oil. Their ANCESTRAL LANDS must first be taken by the Emir of Gwando before it can be handed to oyibo company for oil prospecting?
Tell Buhari, if he really wants this country to become rich as opposed to individuals becoming rich, NO PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL MUST OWN OIL BLOCS. Let it be between the oil prospecting company and the Federal government with the host community getting their fair share of profits. Enough of the corrupt system of “empowering” others with the God-given resource of others.
