I want to talk my mind again. What is really happening to all lawmakers from Delta especially those from Central in the House of assembly and representatives? Apart from Senator Omo-Agege who has now earned the popular name of People’s Senator, I have not heard anywhere that another legislator is sponsoring any bill. If I am wrong, pls correct me. Omo-Agege already has 3 bills to his name in less than 3 or 4 months of being in the senate but those who have spent about 1 year have no single bill. In fact I’m told Omo-Agege’s team may be working on about 10 bills at the same time and the senator is active in coordinating the bills. I also hear Omo-Agege has so many consultants or experts working with him. Why only him?
The other day Honourable Evelyn Oboro Ojakovo said she sponsored the FUPRE bill in the reps but we now know that is a shameless lie. Honourable Solomon Ahwinahw is permanently sleeping or absent from lawmaking. He has no bill. Honourable Idisi is always happy to call himself ‘fine boy’ whenever the speaker gives him an opportunity to talk. He has no bill. In the house of assembly in Asaba, no bill at all. They are only collecting money while one is busy biting the fingers that fed him and running in the bush like a mad man. What is happening, my people? Shouldn’t we recall them?
One thing is clear to me. The quality of aides matter. People say everywhere that Senator Omo-Agege is succeeding because of the caliber of his aides. I have heard people say that he sat down with Chief Great Ogboru to plan after his victory and he pleaded with Ogboru to give him Efe Duku and some other aides to help him in the senate and Ogboru agreed. With the type of people around the senator, his success is easy. His aides are very intelligent and reasonable. They are not sycophants. They are mature, not area boys who do Ose Ose. Even if u have questions or concerns his aides will talk with u with respect.
So who are the aides of the others. I’m told the SLA to Ahwinahwi is intelligent but he is afraid to tell him the truth. Almost all others are just hangers on for stomach infrastructures. They are the real problem. Their Ogas are hated because they are too hungry to work or tell the truth. They have nowhere else to go if sacked for telling the truth so they keep quiet even when things go bad. Hungry hungry aides are always like small children. Maybe we should carry placards in protest so that they can send them for training in Senator Omo-Agege’s office in the senate because we want action from everyone not just the People’s Senator. If no action then let us ask them to come home.
