Ojo, erudite blogger, GEJ and PDP supporter, gentle lovely human being has been arrested by the police in Ogun for REVEALINGLY THAT THE EFCC QUIZZED AMOSUN THE GOVERNOR’S WIFE OVER CERTAIN AMOUNTS OF MONEY.
All over the world, even if Ojo lied, Amosun’s wife and she alone has the right to sue SF Ojo and her remedy is damages or apology on same medium to her. However, by some fraudulent laws passed by the house, laws targeted at cyber crimes was warped so as to make libel and slander, once posted online to be a crime which will involve the police and prosecution unlike world over where it is a tort.
Ojo is being held by the police and has been arraigned on frivolous and obnoxious law.
We hereby call on all Facebook bloggers and lovers of free speech to UBTH stand up and defend this freedom.
If GEJ or PDP had arrested bloggers, will the whole Sahara Reporters and Punch and Premium Times (the have oine versions) not be in prison?
Now that law unlike libel and slander does not have “justification” as defense. Meaning you cannot say “but it is the truth. Here is evidence.” He operating sentiment to be gauged by the judge is “if it embarrassed the recipient and made him lol bad in public eye”. In applying this law, if we point out that Buhari failed to attend the UN General Assembly or meet the Pope, that we pasted it online makes us guilty of a crime, whether we spoke the truth or not.
This is calling in Governor AMOSUN and his wife THAT WAS QUIZZED BY THE EFCC to immediately order the release of SF Ojo for the sake of growing our democracy of which free speech is a cornerstone.
Again I call on all who speak on politics, albeit seldomly, if you have ever accused Uduaghan or Tinubu or Amaechi or Saraki or GEJ or Buhari or anybody of fraud or anything that will “embarrass” them, to go on your status and condemn the action and nip this ugly monster called repression in the bud.
This is beyond PDP and APC. This is beyond our generation. Children yet unborn must know that they can speak up.
How would you have felt if GEJ arrested and jailed everyone who criticized him? AMOSUN is doing that now. this WILL BE ABUSED. Speak up NOWWWWWWW
