Sparks of life
Wondrously fashioned, awesomely gifted
Placed in the bowels of terrestrial splendour
Imbued with life in joyous movement
The elements converge
Glorious sights splay vast distances
The creatures alive in reverential worship
And nature resounds the unity of purpose
But the urchins so graciously pampered
Satiated with boundless pleasures
Cavort the plains in boundless huff
The wish to serve eclipsed in the bud
In the puffed notions of conceited ego
The quest for gold cum that for lordship
Immerse the souls in flagrant disregard
Of the conduit of light and life
Now with the closing of the age
The will can’t hold back the raging storm
The urchins cry out in self-righteous pain
Blasting off the most vociferous complaints
For their votive offerings did not ascend
If only we could look about us
Come down from our imagined heights
Then it could chance come to our lot
That a drop of water wets the arid land
And a wisp of air cools the blazing heat
