YAYOROGBENE community has petitioned the commissioner of police over an alleged threat of violence and attempted murdered of their leader Comrade Austin Ozobo by leaders of Ekorogbene community Mr Romeo Oyakonghan, Lafa James, and Fredrick Younmoh,over a disputed land on the operational area of Ten Oil petroleum and energy services on crude oil well OPL281 in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.And have called for immediate arrest and prosecution of the said persons and ensure to hold the accused persons responsible should anything happened to the petitioner.
The community leader was also reported to be the National president of Ijaw Peoples’ Development Initiative(IPDI) and the national secretary of The Conference For The Actualization Of Human Right(CAHR).
Brief of the petition dated 19th of March 2015 which originated from Omemiroro Ogedegbe and CO’s chambers halt that members of Ekorogbene community led by the above named persons have threatened the life of Mr Ozobo Austin over an already settled land dispute by Burutu customary court on the 27th of February 2015.
The petitioners said that initially they thought the threat could be ignored but it has persisted by several calls from a MTN number(withheld) threatening to murder the petitioner on his resolve to defend his community premised upon their judicial victory in the above mentioned land dispute.The caller who had refused to disclose his identity has threatened to locate the petitioner with a view of eliminating him wherever he could be found and that has prompt the petitioner to go into hiding.
According the to his lawyer thugs and hired assassins have at the behest of the above named persons continued to trail it client so as to assassinate him.
The lawyer in his petition said when the said suit(no Bacc/02/2013 instituted by the above named persons on behalf of their community(Ekorogbene) was dismissed against them, the court ordered them to pay Yayorogbene community a damage of twenty thousand (20.000) naira which rather than complying to the court directive they resolved to perfect their evil plans of attempting to eliminate his client.
One Romeo Oyakonghan, before the said court judgement was delivered had severally threatened violence and vowed to deal with the petitioners if they failed the said suit.
However, the community of the petitioner has be aggravated by the move of Ekorogbene community and their leaders, and vowed to resort to self help if the trend is not urgently checkmated by the security agencies and also hold Romeo and his community indigenes responsible should anything happened to him.
Meawhile, they call on the commissioner of police, Area command Warri and other security agents to swing into action and arrest, prosecute the above persons and their criminal elements in a view of their criminal antecedents as there are several cases of unresolved murder in Nigeria and to protect the life of the petitioner.
