The current Member House of Representatives for Okpe, Sapele & Uvwie Federal Constituency and an aspirant vying for re-election to same office has been tagged an “Enemy of Urhobo” alongside the likes of Ighoyata Amori, Monday Igbuya, Olori Magege and others for quite sometime now but not many really know this just as she has tried her best to hide her face from the shameful drama which led to Okowa’s emergence at the PDP gubernatorial primary as the party flag bearer against the Urhobo people’s choice – Olorogun David Edevbie.
While it is a known fact that Amori & Igbuya sold Urhobos out, many are yet to know the seemingly silent role of Evelyn Oboro who gave counter directives backed by threats to the Uvwie Delegates to cast their votes for Okowa who was and still is her preferred candidate during the Primary election and in the forthcoming general election. When patriotic sons of Urhobo like Hon. Henry Baro, Uvwie LGA Chairman was busy doing everything they could possibly do to uphold the Urhobo cause, Evelyn Oboro who unfortunately happen to be the highest political office holder in the Federal Constituency was busy with permutations on how to sacrifice the Urhobo Dream of Governorship in the alter of greed and self aggrandizement. Infact, it beats our imagination and defies logical thinking to see a political office holder who rose to her current status as one of the Federal Representatives of the Urhobo People through Urhobo Votes working against the general interest of the same people whom she ought to Represent simply for a spoon of porridge by subjugating and suppressing the will of her people alienating their rights of choice with threats of all kinds.
Today, it may appear like she has won as her candidate Okowa is now the PDP flag bearer but the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) has risen in defense of our people stating emphatically that all those who worked against the Urhobo Position in the PDP primaries must not be allowed to win any election in Urhobo land because you can not genuinely represent a people who you traded off for your personal interest.
We therefore call on the general public to stick with the UPU’s (which is our Apex body as Urhobos) decision. If Urhobo must stand and stay united from hence forth then we must get rid of every political sell out by ceasing back the power we have hitherto given to them through the ballot which instead of using it in our favour, they craftily used it against our collective will as a people. Never again should a betrayer of the Urhobo Nation assume a political office within the Urhobo Territory lest they lead us into extinction.
As usurpers of the Urhobo Dream, they must be paid in their own coin hence we have decided to formally launch “Operation Vote Out the Enemies of Urhobo” to serve as a deterrent to others amongst us who might likely think they can defeat Urhobo just because they have access to power which we gave them in the first place.
UPU HAS SPOKEN AND EVELYN OBORO MUST BE SHOWN THE EXIT DOOR THROUGH THE BALLOT.
