ONE of Peoples Democratic Party’s, PDP, governorship aspirants in Delta State, Professor Sylvester Monye, weekend, officially declared for the race and promised to improve on health and education sectors of the state, if elected.
Speaking during the ceremony at the Cenotaph in Asaba, Monye said he had consulted widely on his ambition: “I am widely accepted by Deltans to govern them and the time for me to govern is now,” he noted.
Claiming his ambition was in honour of several calls to run for the governorship, Monye expressed hope that he would secure the PDP ticket to contest the February 2015 governorship election.
Promising to build on the legacies of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s administration, Monye said he would bring his wealth of experience to bear in the governance of the state, if given the opportunity.
He added that he would also encourage the agricultural sector to create jobs for the unemployed youths and also improve on the internally generated revenue base of the state as well as provide potable water for all Deltans.
