The brothers and sisters of late Sir Othuke Lesso who died in January 2022 have filed an application before the Area Customary Court in Oleh seeking the court’s orders to delay his burial pending compliance with custom and tradition.
In a motion on notice with Othuke Lesso’s widow Maudlyn Akpoghene Lesso and two of the children as Respondents, the siblings of the late Othuke are praying the court to restrain the Respondents from giving effect to the Invitation Card relating to the burial of their brother being circulated by the Respondent on the ground that they were not consulted by the Respondents before printing and circulating the card.
In a 27 paragraphs affidavit in support of the application, the Applicants complain that while the family were still making arrangements for the burial, the widow and her children started circulating the invitation card containing details at variance with family and Isoko traditions without their consent.
By the application which has been slated for argument in court on the 26th of April 2022, the Applicants pray the court to restrain the Respondents until “they have strictly complied with the customs and traditions of the Isoko people relating to burial rites.
The deceased Sir Oghalomeno Othuke Lesso was the first child of the late Anglican Revd. Canon Naboth OguruguLesso of Araya-Aviara.
