The Ovie of Uvwle Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel E. Sideso Abe1, JP, OON and the Olu of Warri, HRM Atuwatse 111 want a new era of unity, peaceful coexistence and rapid development in Delta South saying the Urhobos and Itsekiris shall no longer marry in the night and fight at noon
Both monarchs spoke in the same vein when the Olu of Warri paid a courtesy call on the Ovie of Uvwle Kingdom at his Effurun palace on Friday 21 January 2022 amidst traditional dances and celebration by Urhobos and Itsekiris in Uvwle
The Ovie of Uvwle Kingdom in a welcome address congratulated Atuwatse 111 for successful ascension to the throne of his ancestors and noted that the celebration and joy of his visit to Uvwle was a demonstration of mutual relationships between the Urhobos and Itsekiris
Abe 1 noted the long term relationship between the Uvwle and Itsekiris people and recalled that Atuwatse 111 great grand father Ginuwa once live with his friend, Warrant Chief Amurun Agbaisi in Amurun compound, Ekpan prior to his coronation and was married to Miss Anigo Amurun who gave birth to Princess Obine Emiko
According to some elders in Amurun family, Warrant Chief Amurun Agbaisi was a friend of Nana of Koko while one of his children, Chief Eyekimo Amurun married Ukpodu Emiko, the first child of HRM Ginuwa. He was also a friend and in-law to HRM Emiko Ikengbuwa, the Olu of Itsekilri as it was then known.
The Ovie of Uvwle Kingdom said he also had good relationship with both Atuwatse 111 late father and Ogiame Ikenwoli and they call themselves brothers
He stressed the need for peaceful coexistence and for the subjects to always listen and obey the royal fathers.
According to him, a governor once remarked that Warri is notorious for original rumors and petition writing and attributed this to one of reasons Shell and several companies left Warri and Wado City
Abe 1 noted that communal crisis was easy to start but no one knew how it would end and stressed the need for Urhobos and Itsekiris to work together, speak with one voice and reap the benefits
He urged the Olu of Warri to support the agitation for NNPC to employ WRPC back-up staff who were laid off sometime ago saying unemployment was fueling the security challenge in Delta
The Uvwle Monarch reminded Olu Atuwatse 111 that he was the father of all the Itsekiris and must work harmoniously to unite all aggrieved parties noting there was no Kingdom where ascension to the throne had been smooth whether by rotation or hereditary
Responding, the Olu of Warri, thanked the Ovie of Uvwle Kingdom for his kind words, hospitality and spoke in admiration of the magnificent Uvwle palace as well as thanked God for making Abe1 his direct neighbor and promised to cooperate with him
He said he could not understand why the Urhobos and Itsekiris should fight in day time and marry in the night but that there were more forces that would unite the group than divide them.
Olu Atuwatse 111 predicted a brighter future for Urhobos and Itsekiris and indeed Delta state if there was unity and that they must take advantage of their diversity and speak with one voice
He said if both monarchs speak with one voice the subjects must obey and this would lead to peace and prosperity but he believed in righteousness and justice.
