The Traditional Council of Chiefs, Eche R’Oriokpor in Uvwie Local Government Area(ULG) and some members of Ekpan Development Committee(EDC) have dragged the Uvwie LG Chairman, Mr. Ramson Onoyake and 32 others to an Ekpan High court over the illegal dissolution of the EDC which was constituted by the traditional council, praying that their action should be declared null and void as well as demanding for N200m damages.
In the suit filed by Chief(Dr.) Robert Ejifoma and Chief Eyimofe Akemu on behalf of Eche R’Oriokpor and Mr. Steven Akemu and Miss Lilian Uruesheyi for EDC, the claimants are asking among others the following:
- An order setting aside and/or annulling and/or cancelling and/or abrogating and/or otherwise declaring completely null and void the purported announcement of the dissolution of the EDC in the electronic media and/or by whatever medium and/or at all in violation and/or contrary to the express provisions of the constitution of the EDC and/or before the expiration of their fixed tenure of three years which does not elapse until and/or about the 20th of September, 2023
- An order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants and/or any person and/or persons claiming through and/or from parading themselves, performing the functions and/or acting in the capacity and/or as executives and/or holding any office in the EDC before the expiration of the tenure of the claimants which said tenure subsist until and/or about the 20th of September 2023….
- The sum of N200,000,000.00 being general, aggravated and exemplary damages against the defendants for the wanton acts of illegality, impunity and misconduct jointly and severally and/or for the unlawful roles they played in the dissolution of the claimants EDC and/or for their undue interference in the activities and/or affairs of the claimants
