Ogboru’s anticidence show he is the man who can and will industrialise Delta State.
As a business man, he set up a number of industries in Delta state and elsewhere which were destroyed by the Babangida Government because of the Gidion Orka coup of 1990.
1. There was a furniture manufacturing company in Effurun called, Grato Limited It employed over 100 Delta boys and girls. It produced world-class furniture for the local furniture industry. It was even exporting finished and semi finished wood products.
2. There was a rubber processing company called Abraka Rubber Limited. It was processing rubber for export to Europe and America. Over 50 Urhobo boys worked there before Babangida destroyed it
3. There was Fiogret Limited with very large fish processing and storage depots across Nigeria – Warri, Port Harcourt, Benin with Headquarters in Ikorodu, Lagos. It went into joint venture with a Russian Fishing Company and was ready to take over the fishing industry across Africa before Babangida destroyed all the fishing/storage depots across the country.
4. There was Ethiope Bank whose license was issued two weeks before the coup and was subsequently withdrawn by Babangida.
So, talking about industrialisation, How many politicians you know who had interest in industrialisation as I have enumerated above?
Talking about industrialisation Ogboru is your man. As I write, Ogboru is building a modular refinery called Adagwe/Petrotop Refinery in Eruemukohwarien Ughelli. Simultaneously, he is developing a port complex on the Warri River by the Udu Bridge at Ovwian near Warri.
If you look at Ogboru’s Manifesto, you will find the plan to revive the following dead Delta State government industries within the first one and a half years of coming to power:
1.Ughelli Glass Company
2. Asaba Textile Mill.
3 Delta Steel Structures Limited, Enerhe
4. Delta Boatyard, Warri
5. Nigerian Shrimp Company Oghareki.
6. Nigerian Salt Company Oghara.
All these are state government companies established during the Ogbemudia era that have been abandoned by the PDP governments of the past 19 years.
There is a plan by the Ogboru Government to establish and put into use the Okwagbe Port which will open up that axis of Urhobo land.
It takes an industrialist like Ogboru to industrialise a state. Watch out, people
