About a year to the end o Jonathan regime, a group of Blackmailers in PDP decide to leave the party as it was getting obvious that their party would not win the oncoming elections. They decided to join APC where they were able to negotiate and got at least 20 big positions including about 5 governorship seats of Sokoto, Kebbi, Kwara, Adamawa and Kano. They also got the President of Senate and Speaker of House of Representatives. Juicy Committee Chairmanship slots in the NASS including Education, Appropriation and Customs of the Senate, also fell into their hands. These men had no intention of staying on, in APC. They would rather form a block with which every one year to any General Election, they would negotiate with any perceived winning party for big positions. Now, the time for such negotiation came up on 10th May, 2018.
Let’s see how their plot went. First, unlike the last plot, the Party they reckon would win the next election is APC, the party to which they were already attached.
**They demanded to see Buhari, the President, giving a 7-day ultimatum after which they would quit APC and seek another party to move their block into.
**Many APC sympathizers were moved with fear! It would be a disaster if this “powerful block” returns to PDP or join Mr. Coalition. A few of us, knowing that a solid principle of good giving is never to negotiate with blackmailers who would always come back for more until they ask for your head, pleaded that these spoilers within APC that have refused to dissolve their identities into a party with which they are supposed to have merged, should be shown the way out.
**On the side of President Buhari and Party Strategists, Tinubu, they did not show any indication that they heard some people talking. I presume this was because they knew that their party APC s is one united body. There are no factions within. There are no blocks within. There is nothing like nPDP in APC.
**Seven days came and passed on 16th May. No Deal, Nothing.
**We can now only conjecture what happened in their camp as the ultimatum expired.
They must have met to consider the next step to take. The future looked bleak to them. The alternatives open to them were painful. They can very easily return to PDP that would gladly take them back. But they know that party will be lucky to win 5 states i n the next election of which these nPDP men, save Kwara do not even belong. They were not going to consider ADC. That one died on arrival. The SDP? The only campaign strategy open to the Baba that rules the party – “Fulani Herdsmen” is fast losing its sting with the findings that most of the Financiers of these killers were neither Fulani nor Herdsmen. They decided to shamelessly remain in APC
**But how do they face the public with no one answering them? They wished someone pleaded with them just once. They need a soft landing. They reasoned: “Let the party pretend to discuss with us so that we can tell the world we have been placated”
**They have a friend in the Party Chairman. They must have decided to approach him for a meeting, no matter how short just to cover their shame. I would guess that Oyegun agreed to help them. So, on the 19th, three days after the expiration of the ultimatum it was announced the Party would meet with the nPDP. It had however become obvious that Buhari has no time for them.
**Joyously, Baraje, the leader of the group announced that his tattered group at no time gave an ultimatum to the party. They only tried to impress on the party, the need to urgently tackle the issues on hand. We also noted that the narrative changed. It was no longer President Buhari the group insisted on discussing with, they actually asked to discuss with the Party Leadership and the meeting had been slated for 20th May at their own request.
**I waited to know who constituted the Party Leadership. To me, to discuss this weighty threat by nPDP which may even include: “The last time, CPC in APC that provided the President. We need assurance that after him, it will be the turn of nPDP in APC” or soft landing for Saraki, their leader, alleged to be a financier of a Killer Cult, must include President Buhari, VP Osinbajo, Party Master Strategist, Tinubu, Party Chairman Oyegun and his CWC. It must be a big meeting.
**The “Meeting” came and passed.
The main Decision reached as announced by nPDP, not even the party, is that nPDP will remain in APC.
Was Buhari there? No.
Was Osinbajo there? No.
What about Tinubu? No.
At least the Party Chairman must have been there. Well….. Not exactly. He would have been but he was busy probably having a haircut at his barbers! So his Deputy, Senator Lawal Shuaibu stood in for him. PDPenjoyed this. APC is maturing at last. The tune and lyrics of this music are beautiful. You do not discuss with blackmailers.
With this, nPDP in APC is at last laid to rest.
