Willie Obiano, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Saturday, November 18 governorship election in Anambra State, , has been reelected as the Executive Governor of the state.
The election which took place in all the twenty-one (21) local government areas and 326 wards in the state, showed Obiano demystified political giants in the state.
Before the commencement of the election on Saturday, political analysts had predicted the race to be a five (5) horse race but the outcome of the results proved otherwise.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for the Anambra State governorship election and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu, who announced the results on Sunday, November 19 at the collation centre at the INEC headquarters in Awka, the Anambra state capital, said Willie Obiano of APGA won the election.
Obiano won the election with the total of 234, 071 votes, his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Nwoye came second with 98,752 while Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Obaze Henry Oseloka pulled 70,293 votes to finish third.
According to the results announced by Prof. Akpagu, APGA cleared all the twenty-one (21) local government areas in the state.
The victory means Obiano will govern Anambra state for the next four (4) years.
