The founder, Shola Mese Foundaon has said that the current fragile peace in the Niger Delta region was not sustainable because they were too many unemployed youths, and that the federal government was wasting time and resources negotiating with irrelevant bodies rather than addressing the unemployment challenge among the youths
Deacon Shola Mese who spoke to journalists in Warri today(17/10/17) narrated his various contribution to ensuring sustainable peace in the Niger Delta as well as his contribution to addressing drug abuse in the region.
He explained that his vision which started in 2012 as a security consultant was to rescue, mould, rehabilitate and most especially empower our young people to become great and be leaders of tomorrow as well as bring to its minimum, youth involvement in crime and other social vices in the society through continuous campaign/programs against the use of hard drugs and other destructive substances that would help to make the society crime free.
According to him, currently the foundation has model skill acquisition centres (Tailoring, computer training, graphic design and a driving school) where the less privileged persons and rehabilitated, trained and empowered.
Deacon Shola Mese said his vision was to establish and manage skill acquisition centres all over the region and Nigeria at large where the former drug addict, the deprived, the poor and less privileged could be rehabilitated, trained, empowered and integrated back in the society at little or no cost to the recipient.
He also hoped to develop sports facilities that would serve as a deliberate distraction to the youths from all manner of social vices and other crime related issues and be useful to themselves and contribute meaningfully to the development of our society.
“We will roll out campaigns against use/abuse of hard drugs, this we will do strategically by taking the message to our institutions of learning (i.e. secondary schools, universities, polytechnics) where a good number of our young people can be found and reached. (Establish drug free clubs; introduce peer education programs, lectures, campaigns etc). All of these Shola Mese Foundation hope to achieve with the voluntary support of sponsors / donors and partners.
