The Afenifere National Publicity Secretary Mr. Yinka Odumakin believes the APC should rob the PDP of an article of campaign by doing the restructuring, which he considers necessary and expedient instead of fighting the PDP for calling for restructuring.
In a swift welcome of the PDP’s position on restructuring, the Pan Yoruba Group Afenifere through its publicity secretary stated on Sunday 20th August.
“The APC has an edge now; they are in power now while the PDP is in opposition. Let the APC do the restructuring so that the PDP will have nothing to campaign with, except they the APC are just doing cheap propaganda. That will be the best way to treat PDP; restructure Nigeria then PDP will look for something else to campaign with.”
In the same development, the President Ijaw Youth Council, Eric Omare reacting to the development commended the PDP for their position on restructuring. Going further he saw the position of the PDP as subscribing to the thinking of majority of Nigerians.
This is a commendable decision and anybody any body wishing Nigeria well will know that this is the way to go. I think that what the PDP has done was to align itself with the thinking of majority of Nigerians and they have not done wrong in that direction.

On the same note, the president of Ijaw youth monitoring group (IMG) Joseph Evah agreed with the position of PDP and opined that the APC will be at a loss should they shy away from doing the needful by driving this change which was the substance of their promise; even the APC, it was one of their campaign promises. If they don’t want restructuring they will not return to power because now the wind is blowing it like wild fire, and it will even burn some of them who have evil minds towards this country. If they don’t it, Nigerians will reject them. We must have to restructure because if people like Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) one of the progenitors of this structure that we have now is standing for restructuring, I am telling you that the time has come for restructuring and the APC cannot stop it . It was APC’s cardinal campaign promise, and if they don’t fulfill it Nigerians will see them as liars.
From the foregoing, it is a matter now of when not if it will. What might be keeping it might be the understanding of it and the modalities. There seems to be homogeneity of purpose on restructuring in the entire southern Nigeria and a modest appreciation of it in the North central popularly described as the middle belt, but the core North seems to have their feet on the brake pedals on restructuring. Who stands to gain and who stands to lose will definitely be the obvious object of the next discuss and what can be done to help ameliorate the effect and ensure every component is assured of not just survival , but channels of progress.
