Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s alleged plan to return to the senate after serving as Governor of Delta state seemed to be generating row but Barr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, the governor.s Executive Assistant on communication dismissed the speculations as cheap propaganda, saying the governor is not thinking of 2023 when he has not completed his first tenure as governor. “All these are the handiwork of APC rats”
In an online publication, “OKOWA”S AMBITION FOR 2023 THREATENS DELTA NORTH UNITY.” one Temisan Oritsejolomi wrote:
“Senator Okowa’s plan to return to the senate after serving as governor of Delta state has been exposed and presently threatening the unity of the Delta North political class. The highlight is that senator Peter Nwaoboshi who is presently representing Delta North Senatorial District in the upper chambers of the National Assembly, Abuja has been schemed out in the scheme of things. Senator Okowa has penciled down Honourable Mrakpo to take over from Nwaoboshi in 2019 so that Mrakpo will step down for him (Okowa) in 2023 after he (Okowa) has served eight years as governor of Delta state.
“Senator Okowa is taking a cue from senator James Manager who became very strong and powerful after two tenures in the Senate, even powerful enough to fight off Uduaghan. However, senator Peter Nwaoboshi is not relenting on his part. As a counter, senator Peter Nwaoboshi has opened doors with Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, the Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
“Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, it was learnt has sent emisaries to Dr. Cairo Ojougboh to apologize to him (Dr. Ojougboh) for betraying him and it is understood that Dr. Ojougboh said he has forgiven and forgotten, stating that he doesn’t think of yesterday but tomorrow, therefore, he welcomes senator Nwaoboshi back.
“In strategising for 2023, Okowa has asked Honourable Ndudi Elumelu to go back to the House of Representatives while he (Okowa) will step up to the senate. To settle the rift between Elumelu and Mrakpo, Okowa has employed the services of Professor Epifany Azinge . His plan was to use Azinge as the arrowhead to keep Aniocha/Oshimili in check by funding Njiko Aniocha/Oshimili. He forgot that he’s not God and will never be God.
“In trying to kill two birds with one stone, Okowa promised Azinge the right of choice of first refusal between the Asagbaship of the Asagba of Asaba or becoming the Attorney General of Delta state since the performance of Barrister Peter Mrakpo have been dismal at best. Barrister Mrakpo, the Attorney General of Delta State plays second fiddle to his wife, an honourable member of the House of Representatives, Abuja and the Urhobos are very upset that their son have been used as foot mat by an Anioma woman.
“The second leg of the Anioma Agenda also suffered huge setback with the unexpected death of the grand Patron of Onu Ika. With that development, Okowa’s plan of rail-roading the Ikas behind Mrakpo has failed woefully. And the third leg , the Ndokwa nation is pillared by the ever ambitious Chief Opone who is fiercely loyal to Amori and Ibori and has a cancerous gubernatorial ambition himself. He will therefore, not surrender the Ndokwa nation to the Okowa plan.
“Another troubling issue for Okowa is the popularity that Dr. Cairo Ojougboh enjoys with the political elits in Delta state, both religious leaders and elder statesmen. The support of chief EK Clark and chief Tony Anenih for Dr. Cairo Ojougboh can’t be taken for granted and the fate of the Anioma people hangs in a balance as its two sons, Dr. Okowa, a governor who has lost control of the state and has been overwhelmed by the enormity of the office he occupies and therefore, turned government into a local government obituary functions and dedication in the villages while Delta state is missing in action in the national and international relm.
“Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, on the other hand has been making steady progress at the national level and is being gradually embedded in party politics at both state and national levels It is the opinion of the majority of Anioma sons and daughters that until Dr. Ojougboh and senator Okowa learn to work together, the Anioma nation will suffer and Delta state will pay dearly for it. It is for this reason that traditional rulers in Anioma nation made concerted effort to settle the two of them to no avail. While the Urhobos and Delta South people are putting their houses in order for 2019, the Anioma people are sharply divided.
But in response, Barr. Peter Nwaoboshi through Media Assistant, Owelle Awele Onokwai Snr. said:
:The attention of the Distinguished Senator Barr. Peter Nwaoboshi has been drawn to a malicious article from charlatans and political load-carriers purporting a supposed “scheming out” of Senator Barr. Peter Nwaoboshi from the political settings of Delta North and paper-thin claims of aligning with Dr. Cairo Ojougboh to fight the Executive Governor of Delta State Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Barr. Peter Nwaoboshi has not been in any form of communication whatsoever with Dr. Cairo Ojougboh in more than a year and one begins to wonder where and when the channel of communication with Dr. Cairo Ojougboh was established even to the extent of sending emissaries for whatever purpose.
“Additionally, while we all aspire for a greater tomorrow in the years coming, we must take cognisance of the fact that it is God Almighty alone who gives life and therefore, everyone should humbly pray to see the end of the year 2017 before gauzing at 2019, 2023 and even beyond.
“Furthermore, for the umpteenth time, I am making it known unequivocally that the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has my full support in his SMART AGENDA and the quest for a better Delta State and prosperity for all Deltans. We both enjoy unlimited cordial and healthy relationship which has always been geared towards the overall development of Delta North and Delta State in general. The understanding between us has been telepathic.
