Chief Edwin Clark, leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, believes some politicians and oil company’s contractors were behind the recalcirant militant groups still carry out pipeline attack in the Niger Delta region.
Clark declares this shortly after an enclosed meeting of PANDEF on Friday in Warri, Delta state.
An enraged Clark noted that the resumed hostility by the militant despite moves by leaders of the region to broker peace was being orchestrated.
He blamed some unnamed politicains and contractors for the intermittent attacks, describing them as “enemies of the people and criminals”.
According to him, those still bombing pipelines were misguided, and tools in the hands of selfish politicians and contractors.
“To vent anger on government can never receive the blessings of PANDEF, we cannot continue to cut our noses to spite our faces.”
He however appealed to federal government not to be distracted by the antics of those behind the dastardly act, and urged President Buhari to “go on acting on the requests we made on the 1st of November”.
“We will deal with this situation. We will not sit down at home with our arms folded and allow some few individuals to destroy our destiny.”
