Former Head of Civil Service, Delta State, Chief Sylvanus Mordi, has called on relevant security agencies in the state to fish out the killers of his younger brother, Mr. Monday Mordi who was murdered by yet to be identified assailants.
Chief Mordi made the call in a statement made available to newsmen in Warri, Delta State, saying that those who murdered his brother must be made to face the full scale of the law and ensure that the family gets justice.
It would be recalled that Monday Mordi was gruesomely murdered on October 17, 2016, on his way to the farm in Owerri Quarters, Ute-Okpu, Ika North East Local Government Area, Delta State, thereby throwing the community into mourning.
According to Chief Mordi, “The death my younger brother has dealt a heavy blow on the entire family. We are in serious pain. It is our desire for security agencies, the police, SSS and any other to go after his killers and make them to face the full wrath of the law. They will know no peace where ever they.”
“We don’t know who was involved but where ever they are and whoever they may be, let the security agencies smoke them out. Our community is now living in fear and if they are not apprehended and jailed no one knows who may be their next target. We have reported to the police and other security agencies and we demand justice for my late brother,” Chief Mordi stated.
He wondered why a harmless farmer would be waylaid and brutaly murdered by yet-to-be identified assailants, who according to sources, were three in number.
The Divisional Police Officer of Owa-Oyibu Divisional Headquarters, CSP Austin Chukwuma could not be reached for comments on the matter, but a source within the police station confirmed the incident, noting that the victim was killed and his motorcycle carted away.
According to the Police source, “One person has been arrested in connection with the murder of younger Mordi as the police continues its search and investigation for other members of the armed group.”
A source at the Delta State Police Command Headquarters in Asaba who preferred not to be mentioned said that the arrested suspect is making useful confessions that could lead to the arrest of the others who are now at large.
