Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, has in an exclusive interview with the Leadership, said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government is to be blamed for the current economic hardship in the country thanks to the austere measures introduced by his government. He also advised the president to reverse the policies in order to make the masses enjoy cash flow.
The cleric also said that President Buhari should have borrowed some economic policies from the past administration of Goodluck Jonathan which despite the challenges of their time, were able to keep the economy under control and ensured sufficient cash flow.
Speaking on the economy, he said, ‘‘Of course there is the oil glut and the price ha

Buhari should learn from that.
Speaking further, Gumi said, “What Nigeria needs now is not just to tighten the mouth but to spend more judiciously on even the private sector. The economy is now in recession, airlines are collapsing, banks are collapsing and businesses are suffering. Give the collapsing airlines a lot of soft loans, and support for banks.
“What Nigeria truly needs now is first aid. Let food be cheap and available, let fuel be cheap and available, let education be a priority” he said. Source: Leadership
