Niger Delta ex-militant leaders under the
Federal Government amnesty programme, have
given the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, a seven-day
ultimatum to pay up their outstanding three months
stipends, warning that failure to comply would
amount to the shutting down of all CBN offices in
the Niger Delta region.
The ex-militant leaders took the decision following
an sms, allegedly sent to them by Coordinator of
the amnesty programme and Special Adviser to the
President on Niger Delta Affairs, Brig Gen. Paul
Boroh (retd), which reads “Amnesty Office do not
pay anymore, it’s Central Bank that pays.”
The angry ex-militant leaders in a statement by the
Bayelsa State chairman, Phase 2 ex-militants, Mr.
Stephen Ebisinte, said: “Based on the information
Brig Gen. Boroh sent to us, we have given the CBN
seven-day ultimatum to pay our outstanding three
months stipends. There will be no work for all CBN
offices across the Niger Delta states if they failed to
comply.”
