The Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State, Chief Amalate Turner, has dispelled speculations in some quarters that he will oppose Governor Seriake Dickson’s second term bid.
Turner is a close confidant of President Goodluck Jonathan and paramount ruler of Opume community in Ogbia Local Government Area.
He spoke on Saturday during a stakeholders’ meeting of wards and executives of the PDP in Ogbia, Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.
Turner is believed to be Dickson’s political godfather, who allegedly spearheaded the ouster of former Governor Timipre Sylva.
He said he would not contest the next governorship election in the state as being insinuated.
Speculations have been rife in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, that the former Chairman of the Board of National Inland Waterways Authority was preparing his political war chest ahead of the next governorship election.
It was learnt that the development had been creating fear in Dickson and his political camp.
But Turner declared at the meeting that he had never at any time indicated interest in the election.
