OKUAMA: Urhobo Monarchs(Ukoko R’Ivie) to Visit Devastated Community

The Urhobo Traditional Rulers Council(Ukoko R’Ivie R’Urhobo) plan to visit devastated Okuama following the invasion of the community by the Nigerian Army over the killing of 17 soldiers on March 14th this year after a land dispute with Okoloba community.

This was the outcome of the meeting held today(11/6/2024) in Effurun at the palace of Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso, Abe 1, JP.OON on the occasion of first year anniversary of his election as the Chairman, Ukoko R’Ivie R’Urhobo.

Newsroom267.com.ng gathered that the visit to Okuama by the Urhobo monarchs is to enable them have an on the spot assessment of the ruins community and what level of assistance to provide.

Earlier in an opening speech, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom enumerated the achievements of his executive in the last one year which included the reactivation of the dormant account of the group, change of name from Ukoko r’ume Ivie Urhobo Nation to Ukoko r’Ivie, Urhobo nation.

He also noted the assistance rendered to the Ovie of Ewu during the Okuama crisis and thanked all the traditional rulers for their support

According to him, during the period, a committee was set up to review the old Ukoko r’Ivie constitution and that the committee did an excellent work, resulting to the approval of the constitution.

Abe 1 also noted the excellent relationship between the Urhobo Progress Union(UPU) worldwide and the Ukoko r’Ivie leading to a join meetings with their executives during the Okuama and Aladja/Ogbe Ijoh crisis.

About 22 traditional rulers attended the meeting
