The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso, Abe 1, JP, OON on Thursday(6/6/2024) declared that it is within his discretion to create ‘Etches’ for effective administration of Uvwie under the traditional law as well as appointment of Inuevworos and other traditional chiefs
The Ovie was responding to a petition by the Onosere, Ughwe and Umuabaren families which seemed to question his authority in respect to the creation of Etches(administrative units) following the derobement of Francis Ojo Ogun as a Chief for failing to abide by the guidelines for chiefs in Uvwie Kingdom
HRM Emmanuel Sideso who spoke during a meeting with chiefs and some members of Onosere, Ughwe and Umuabaren families at his palace also noted that the letter by the families was very insulting, as the petition seemed to suggest that Francis Ogun was being victimised, whereas he was given five days to disassociate himself from a court case by his family against a fellow chief which was against the guidelines for chiefs.
He said he decided to invite the family for a meeting due to the good legacies of Francis Ogun’s father and that they were lucky that we were in modern times when people could question the authorities of monarchys
Present at the meeting were the Unuevworo of Uvwie/Alegbor, Chief Hope Akasa, Unuevworo of Ekpan, Chief Iffie Peters and several others
