Urhobo Monarchies Appeal to FG to Allow Innocent, Suffering Okuama People to Return Home

The Ukoko r’ Ivie r’ Urhobo( Urhobo Council of Traditional Rulers) has appealed to the federal government to allow the suffering and innocent aged people and children of Okuama community to return to their ancestral home
This was contained in a press statement by HRM (Dr)Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso, Abe 1, JP. OON today(3/4/2024) after a meeting with representatives of Ewu, Okparabe and Arhavwarien led by Chief Vincent Oduaran JP, Chief Sam Oborumuyere and Prince Solomon Diodemise, Otota of Okparebe Kingdom

Today, Tuesday, 2nd April 2024, representatives of Ewu, Okparabe and Arhavwarien Kingdoms of Ughelli South Local Government area of Delta State came on “save our soul” visit to the Chairman, Ukoko r’ Ivie r’ Urhobo(Urhobo Council of Traditional Rulers), HRM(Dr.) Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso Abe 1, JP. OON Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom supported by HRM Ovie of Agbarha-Otor, HRM  of Oghara and HRM Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom(Exco members) at the Palace of Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom.
The representatives under reference narrated suffering, attacks. arson, deaths etc by the people of  Okuama community and neighbouring communities. That they could no longer sleep with their eyes closed.
That they are worried that HRM Ovie of Ewu Kingdom was declared wanted by the Nigeria Army and his subsequent surrendering himself to the Commissioner of Police, Delta State and the hand over to the Nigerian Army Authority. They believed in the innocence of the King.
Resolution:
After listening to the pleas of the representatives, the council resolved as follows:
“The Ukoko r’ Ivie Urhoblo(Urhobo Council of Traditional Rulers) restated their call for setting up of an Independent investigative enquiry into the immediate and remote causes of the Okuama-military incident as this is the only way the truth can be revealed and avoid future incidence
“That the good people of Ewu Kingdom should remain calm and law-abiding as the council will ensure that no innocent person suffers unjustly.
“Council once more commiserate with families of the slain soldiers and the Nigerian Army Authority
“Council is deeply touched by the pains suffered by innocent citizens of Okuama and neighboring communities and commensurate with the families of those who lost their loved ones.
“Council also appeal to the federal government to allow the Okuama people to return to their ancestral home to reduce the suffering of the innocent aged people and children.
