The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Sideso, Abe 1, JP. OON has welcomed Uvwie sponsored first female pilot, Miss Rita Iyeghe predicting that with the renew drive by the Kingdom for education, each family will soon have a university professor despite attempts by some misguided elements to return to the unsustainable inglorious past.
Speaking in Effurun, Uvwie LG today, Saturday (30/10/21) when he received Miss Iyeghe, HRM Sideso commended her for successfully completing her course and the courtesy call on him saying the funds spent on her was justifiable as she and her mentor, Captain Chris Onajomo another Uvwie pilot had shown a lot of respect for the traditional institutions.
The monarch thanked Captain Onajomo for his support and introduction of Miss Iyeghe to the Chairman, Uvwie Palace Education Trust Fund, Professor John Arubayi, a former deputy Vice Chancellor, Delta State University, which eventually led to her being given scholarship to complete her course.
He pointed out that the success of Miss Iyeghe had confirmed the saying that “what a man can do a woman and also so do better” and prayed that other Uvwie youths should take up the challenge and access the palace education scholarship fund so that they too could get good professional qualification
According to him with more and more Uvwie youths getting better education, they would be able to compete equally with others in the numerous industries and education institutions in Uvwie and that education was the best legacy to leave for the next generation
The monarch commended both President Mohammadu Buhari and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for establishing higher institutions in Uvwie adding that Uvwie was a blessed kingdom
Earlier, Captain Chris Onajomo, who has been a pilot for 43 years, commended the Ovie of Uvwie for his humility and desire to ensure that Uvwie youths got the best education saying he was proud of being Uvwie son. He promised to donate N50,000 every month to the Palace Education Fund and agree with the Ovie statement that education was the best legacy to leave for the next generation.
