The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel E. Sideso, Abe 1, JP. OON has said that the current peace in Uvwie is irreversible and that anybody who attempts to truncate this will meet his doom. He spoke today(21/7/21) when he received the amended Ekpan Development Committee(EDC) constitution.
Last year, September, HRM Sideso set up a 16-man committee headed by Professor(Chief) Joseph Abugu(SAN) to review the EDC constitution to meet up with current realities following the creating of new units(Etches) in Ekpan. Uvwie Local Government population which was less than 100,000 in the early 70s is now put at about 250,000 by the Nigeria population Commission.
The Uvwie Monarch again gave reasons on why the EDC constitution was reviewed and explained that the delay in completing the project was due to various challenges in the country saying that the new constitution would come into effect from the end of the tenure of the current EDC exco in about two years time.
The panel Chairman, Prof. Abugu gave a brief review of how the committee went about performing the assignment, including the invitation of various stakeholders in Uvwie and their presentations.
The Uvwie Local Government Chairman, Hon Ramson Onoyake represented by Elder Obiku Margaret thanked the monarch for his contribution to the sustain peace in Uvwie and referred to a Bible passage which says when good leaders are in authority, the people rejoice and prayed for long life for the Uvwie monarch.
