NIGER Delta Avengers, NDA,
\nTues night, said the Movement for the
\nEmancipation of the Niger-Delta, MEND, is
\nobsolete urged the public to discountenance
\nstatements from the group.
\nSpokesperson of the group, Brig Gen Mudoch
\nAgbinibo in a statement, said: \u201cWe appeal to
\nthe general public and all sane minds on the
\nactivities of Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to\"Egbesu-Fraternity\"<\/a>
\ndisregard all purported statements and
\nmisplaced threat emanating from disbanded
\ncriminal elements like the so-called MEND.\u201d
\nIt said the criminal elements in the outmoded
\ngroup were \u201c political sidekicks and
\ndesperations from Governor Adams Oshiomhole
\nof Edo state, Mr. Timipre Silva and their political
\npaymasters to hold their political party to the
\njugular of the affairs of the Niger Delta Region.\u201d
\nAvengers claimed: \u201cOur struggle is focused on
\nthe liberation of the People of Niger Delta from
\ndecades of divisive rule and exclusion. We are
\nwatching keenly their regretful efforts at
\nre-brandingand regrouping criminal elements in
\nthe region for their short political gains and
\nterritories.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NDA is unperturbed, we have mandate
\nthat is clearly a departure of those old tactics of
\nthe defunct so-called MEND that was indulged
\nin kidnapping, hostage taking, sea piracy,
\nillegal oil bunkering, bank robberies and social
\ncrimes the likes of Boyloafs, Ateke Toms, were
\nassociated to in their days in the name
\nstruggle.
\n\u201cThe wind of change in the Niger Delta struggle
\nhas come; we are young, smart, and focused
\nNiger Deltans. Our mandate is to liberate the
\nNiger Delta people; we do not run after pipeline
\ncontracts,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
