Ex-Governor of Central Bank, Dr.\u00a0Charles Chukwuma Soludo\"Ngozi\"<\/a> has criticized\u00a0Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for blaming others for not saving for the rainy day asking, “did the governors also stop the Federal Government from saving part of its share”. “… I hereby challenge your attempt to blame others for not
\nsaving for the rainy day. It is not a virtue when you are
\nquick to appropriate all the credit when things are going
\nwell, but shift the blame when they go wrong.
\nYou blame the state governors\u2014 who, according to you,
\nhave taken the Federal Government to the Supreme Court\u2014
\nnot that a Supreme Court judgement forced your hands. For
\nyour information, the governors have never agreed to
\nsavings and always threatened court action even under
\nObasanjo. Why did we save under Obasanjo but not under
\nJonathan?.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/a>Two keywords explain it: leadership and integrity. Governor
\nAmaechi said the governors insisted on sharing the funds
\nbecause they found out that you were illegally fiddling with
\nthe savings.
\nSo, as Nigerians still wonder, if billions of dollars are now
\n\u2018missing\u2019 under your nose, why should governors trust you
\nto keep their money?. Do the states that have taken the
\nfederal government to the Supreme Court and refused to
\nsave also include the PDP governors\u2014who are in the
\nmajority? If so, then it is fatal: even governors of your own
\nparty, PDP, do not trust you to keep their money!.
\nFurthermore, did the governors also stop the Federal
\nGovernment from saving part of its share? If you ran a
\nsurplus budget at the Federal
\nlevel, you would have had credibility to blame others or to
\nsay they did not listen to your advice.
\nThe key point is that since you were running huge deficits
\nyourself, it was also in your own interest to share the ECA.
\nYou did not show
\nleadership or credibility, full stop!…”
