This is such a time.<br \/>\nI am not calling President Goodluck Jonathan an evil man. I do not believe he is perverse. However, the economic ideas controlling him are so misguided that they have a perverse impact. Because he is slave to wrong-headed economics, the people will become enslaved to greater misery. This crisis will bear his name and will be his legacy. The people now pay a steep tax for voting him into office. The removal of the subsidy is the \u201cJonathan tax.\u201d This situation shows that ideas count more than personalities<br \/>\nPeople may occupy office but how that person performs depends on the ideas that occupy his mind.&#8221;<br \/>\n2015: Tinubu Calls For Immediate Removal Of Fuel Subsidy<br \/>\nFormer governor of Lagos state, now National leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked for the immediate removal fuel subsidy.<br \/>\nTinubu who made the demand while speaking yesterday in Kaduna at the 10th memorial anniversary of late Dr. Bala Usman, a politician, and former lecturer with Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU, Zaria, Tinubu said that fuel subsidy came with \u201cmany demons\u201d<br \/>\nTinubu said, \u201cIn a perfect world, I wish we could sanitize the subsidy regime and thus continue with it.<br \/>\n\u201cHowever, I have reached the conclusion that there are too many demons in the system for that hell to be turned into heaven.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is better that we remove it, not for the austere purpose of saving money but to use the money more wisely that we might better save the people. Let us begin a process of a thoughtful, but decisive subsidy phase-out.<br \/>\n\u201cWhile this is occurring, we should simultaneously phase in social programs benefiting the poorest, most vulnerable among us.<br \/>\n\u201cPrograms such as transportation subsidies, school feeding, improved basic medical care and coverage for the poor, and potable water projects are some of the things that can be done with the same funds.<br \/>\n\u201cThis way we can undertake this massive expenditure confident that the fruits will go to the hungry, not the already too well fed.<br \/>\n\u201cEnd the fuel subsidy.
