{"id":5401,"date":"2015-07-30T16:49:09","date_gmt":"2015-07-30T16:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=5401"},"modified":"2015-07-30T16:51:27","modified_gmt":"2015-07-30T16:51:27","slug":"us-provides-997m-for-dangotes-refinery-in-nigeria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=5401","title":{"rendered":"US provides $997m for Dangote\u2019s refinery in Nigeria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Delta-newsroom-logo1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5344\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Delta-newsroom-logo1.png\" alt=\"Delta newsroom logo\" width=\"270\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>The United States Trade and Development Agency(USTDA) on Thursday in Lagos announced a grant of 997.4 million dollars (about N251.3 billion) as training support for the proposed refinery by the Dangote Group.<\/p>\n<p>The grant was announced at the signing of a Memoradum of Understanding (MoU) between Dangote Group and the USTDA.<\/p>\n<p>NAN reports that Dangote Group had in May declared that the proposed refinery would begin operation in the first quarter of 2018 with an investment of about 9 billion dollars.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Enoh Ebong, USTDA\u2019s Deputy Director, said the agency was pleased to support the Dangote Oil Refining Company\u2019s efforts to increase Nigeria\u2019s oil refining capacity.<\/p>\n<p>She said it was a \u201csign of deepening the United States\u2019 long history of support for vital infrastructure in Nigeria.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince 1981, the USTDA has been operating in Nigeria with primary concerns in the area of oil and energy, and we are glad to continue in that line with what we are doing today,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Aliko Dangote, the Chairman, Dangote Group, lauded USTDA for its assistance toward the takeoff of the refinery.<\/p>\n<p>He said the aspect of training and capacity development was vital to the success of the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor such a high-tech project investment, getting the right quality of human capital to run the plant is considered to be possibly the most critical success factor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are, therefore, most grateful for the generous grant from the USTDA to support the training of some of the operators needed to successfully operate the Greenfield 650,000 bpd capacity refinery,\u201d Dangote said.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Dehab Ghebreab, the Acting Consul General, US Consulate, in her remarks, said the success of the refinery could make Nigeria a haven of \u2018miraculous\u2019 economic growth within the next five years.<\/p>\n<p>She urged the Nigerian Government to keep partnering with the private sector for better economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>NAN reports that the grant is expected to fund the training of more than 100 staff on the use of UOP technology licensing and engineering services.<a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/dangote.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5402\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/dangote-300x154.jpg\" alt=\"dangote\" width=\"300\" height=\"154\" srcset=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/dangote-300x154.jpg 300w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/dangote.jpg 314w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United States Trade and Development Agency(USTDA) on Thursday in Lagos announced a grant of 997.4 million dollars (about N251.3 billion) as training support for the proposed refinery by the Dangote Group.
