Asaba\u2014WITH less than nine months for Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State to leave office, Deltans seem to be sharply divided on his achievements so far.<\/p>\n

While some of the governor\u2019s aides are saying the governor has performed well, some other Deltans disagree and rather tasked the governor to do more by ensuring that the numerous uncompleted and abandoned projects were completed before he vacates office.<\/p>\n

Those who spoke to our reporter in Asaba, as the state is set to mark the 23 years anniversary of its creation on August 27, 1991, include the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chike Ogeah, who said: \u201cThere are numerous projects the Uduaghan administration has executed and for the few yet to be completed, they will surely come on stream.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe Delta State is on the right course and in capable hands under Uduaghan. At 23, giant strides had been made and even as one of the youngest states in the country, Delta is definitely one of the most developed.\u201d
\nHowever, Mr. Patrick Ochei, a journalist working for a local tabloid in Asaba said: \u201cTo finish strong, Governor Uduaghan ought to make the grassroots election fair by ensuring he leaves peace and tranquility behind.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also want to see a dualised Asaba-Okpanam Road with durable drainage system; we want to see Asaba-Ughelli Road completed. We want to see Stephen Keshi\u2019s Stadium Asaba completed and many other abandoned major projects.
\n\u201cFrom now, he should ensure contractors do solid work on our roads, while also opening inter-community roads for easy accessibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Senior Political Adviser to the governor, Chief Ighoyota Amori, on his part, said: \u201cThe state has attained enviable level of development in all ramifications under Governor Uduaghan.
\n\u201cThis is evident in areas of his three-point agenda. The roads, airports, model schools, teaching\/specialist hospitals and primary health care facilities are overwhelming.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
