{"id":4231,"date":"2015-02-03T09:10:23","date_gmt":"2015-02-03T09:10:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=4231"},"modified":"2015-02-03T09:10:23","modified_gmt":"2015-02-03T09:10:23","slug":"patience-jonathan-denies-looting-nddc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=4231","title":{"rendered":"Patience Jonathan denies looting NDDC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, on Monday denied media report <em><\/em>that she was paid N3bn by the Niger Delta Development Commission to facilitate the agency\u2019s 2015 budget.<\/p>\n<p>The report had claimed that apart from the sum, Mrs. Jonathan collaborated with a former Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, in a number of schemes that enabled them to loot the resources of the NDDC.<\/p>\n<p>But the President\u2019s wife, in a statement by her media assistant, Ayo Adewuyi, described the report as a hoax.<\/p>\n<p>Adewuyi\u2019s statement read, \u201cNigerians are very conversant with the workings of the National Assembly regarding passage of budgets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParliamentary process requires that the Appropriation Bill goes through First Reading, Second Reading and Third Reading and subsequent harmonisation by the two chambers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne then wonders at which level of this process the First Lady influenced the passage of the NDDC budget that warranted her being paid N3bn for the alleged \u2018consultancy.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be impossible for one single person to influence its passage or is the author trying to indict our lawmakers?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe report is, therefore, to say the least, dubious, diversionary, unfair, unkind, and therefore totally unacceptable.
