It was a day of pomp, dancing and prayers as the Nene of Uvwie Kingdom, Her Royal Highness, Queen Patricia Sideso hosted the National Executive of Urhobo Peoples Union(UPU) Women’s Wing(Ewheya R’Urhobo) in the palace of Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, Effurun yesterday(24\/3\/2025)<\/p>\n
Speaking on the occasion, the Nene of Uvwie Kingdom expressed immense happiness for the visit of the Ewheya R’Urhobo saying she would continue to pray for them and work with them for the general progress of the Urhobo nation.\u00a0By way of expressing her happiness for the visit of the Ewheya R’Urhobo, she joined in the dancing and praise singing my the women.<\/p>\n
Earlier in an address, the Osu R’Ewheya R’Urhoso, Dame Chief Rose Adamerevwune Oghene explained that the courtesy call on the Royal Mother was to formally introduce the members to her and acquit her with the role of the Ewheya in the various Urhobo Kingdom<\/p>\n
She noted that the current UPU constitution was women friendly and had made provision for two women to be included in the board of trustee and that the Ewheya R’Urhobo was usually selected nomintees of the President-General after his emergence.<\/p>\n
According to Chief Rose Oghene, all the kingdoms are represented in the selection after consultation and are meant to serve for three years for two tenure. He said before her, they had Chief Mrs Alice Obaho, Chief Lady Agbassa and Dame Chief Christy Siakpere who served in this capacity<\/p>\n
Chief Oghene said in the past two years they had carried out various activities and the Exco deemed it necessary to visit all the Queens in Urhobo Kingdom and that they were starting with the Uvwie Kingdom<\/p>\n
