Amurun, JP, GCOP, the Esiriarha of Alegbor and the most senior Chief of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Warri<\/p>\n<p>The award is for their unwavering support to UPU, selfless service, and contributions to the advancement of the Urhobo Nation.<\/p>\n<p>PROFILE OF HRM DR EMMANUEL EKEMEJEWA SIDESO, ABE 1, JP, OON,<\/p>\n<p>OVIE OF UVWIE KINGDOM<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the<br \/>\ngreatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the<br \/>\ngreatest things.\u201d\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Ronald Reagan, former U.S. President<br \/>\n1. EARLY LIFE<br \/>\nBorn 79 years ago into the Sideso family of Jakpa quarter,<br \/>\nEffurun, Headquarters of Uvwie Local Government Area. His<br \/>\nMajesty spent his teenage life outside his ancestral domain, in<br \/>\nwhat used to be known as Ishan Division in the present Edo<br \/>\nState. He attended Government School Irrua in the mid 1950s,<br \/>\nfrom there he moved to Ishan Grammar School, Uromi, where<br \/>\nhe obtained the Secondary School Certificate in 1963.<br \/>\n2. FAMILY<br \/>\nThis year 2023, His Majesty, husband of one wife, shall be<br \/>\ncelebrating 55 years in marriage. Both spouses are still very<br \/>\nfond of each other and they are looking forward to more<br \/>\nblissful years ahead. The marriage is blessed with three<br \/>\nillustrious sons, each with his own family.<br \/>\nHis Majesty is a product of a very humble polygamous family.<br \/>\nHis late mother, a renowned trader, was the younger of the<br \/>\ntwo wives of his late father. He is the only surviving and the<br \/>\nyoungest of his 14 siblings. Naturally, he went through all the<br \/>\ncomplications usually associated with polygamous households<br \/>\nand came out emotionally and mentally equipped to face the<br \/>\nchallenges of life. His present affluence notwithstanding, he<br \/>\nrecalls that he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth.<br \/>\nHe was always at the farm after school each day with his<br \/>\nsiblings, helping their father who was a great farmer.<\/p>\n<p>3. WORK EXPERIENCE<br \/>\nHis words, \u201cWhen I graduated from secondary school, I had five<br \/>\njobs waiting for me. It was difficult making the right choice. My<br \/>\nuncle in the Customs Service wanted me to join the service but<br \/>\nmy inclination was towards the army and police. My mother<br \/>\npromised to commit suicide if I joined the army.<br \/>\n\u201cI opted for police service, went for the interview and passed<br \/>\nbut the Commissioner of Police advised me to go back to<br \/>\nschool. I later joined The MINT and moved ahead from there.\u201d<br \/>\nHe was engaged by Nigerian Security Printing and Minting<br \/>\nCompany (NSPMC), popularly known as THE MINT, in August,<br \/>\n1965, as a trainee bank note printer and rose through the ranks<br \/>\nunder expatriate supervisors, until he attained management<br \/>\nstatus. At THE MINT, he served variously as Assistant Director,<br \/>\nDeputy Director, Director of Currency, Production Director, and<br \/>\nGeneral Manager Corporate Services.<br \/>\nHe was THE MINT\u2019s management representative in the National<br \/>\nJoint Consultative Committee on Labour from 1976 to 1983. He<br \/>\nwas also the pioneer management representative at the first<br \/>\nAfrican Banknote Printers Association in 1991. He was the<br \/>\nchairman, concurrently, of THE MINT\u2019S committees for printing<br \/>\nballot papers, Apprenticeship Scheme, Housing Loan Scheme<br \/>\nand HealthCare. Till 1994, he was a member of both the Abuja<br \/>\n(NSPMC) Factory Technical Committee and Paper Mill<br \/>\nCommittee. Sequel to his professional aptitude and<br \/>\noverwhelming track record, it was no surprise that he won the<br \/>\nrevered NSPMC award in 1980.<br \/>\n4. OVERSEAS TRAININGS<br \/>\nHis Royal Majesty is a product of Thomas De La Rue and Royal<br \/>\nMint, United Kingdom, a first-rate money printing<\/p>\n<p>establishment. As a distinguished manager at THE MINT, he<br \/>\nwas elected to attend several topnotch management courses<br \/>\nabroad and by 1971, he was rated among Nigeria\u2019s<br \/>\naccomplished MINT operatives.<br \/>\nAttesting to his proficiency and eminence, he represented<br \/>\nNigeria at Intercontinental Conferences on security in<br \/>\ncollaboration with Interpol in Europe and Japan, between 1986<br \/>\nand 1993,.<br \/>\nIn 1995, His Majesty voluntarily pulled out of THE MINT, having<br \/>\nput in 30 years of productive work in the organization. He will<br \/>\nalways be remembered at THE MINT for his legacy of<br \/>\nresourcefulness, transparency and loyalty.<br \/>\n5. ACCOLADES<br \/>\nIn appreciation of his multifarious contributions to the<br \/>\nadvancement of humanity, His Majesty has been honoured<br \/>\nwith numerous classic awards, including the prestigious<br \/>\nnational award of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON),<br \/>\nconferred on him by Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan<br \/>\nadministration on 22 nd July, 2010. He won the Abuja RAMP<br \/>\nsafety award in 2009.<br \/>\nThere withal, the Uvwie Kinsmen through HRM Eruohwo II,<br \/>\nOvie of Uvwie Kingdom gave him the title, Urhorhomu r\u2019<br \/>\nUvwie (The Good Blessing Of Uvwie Kingdom in 2001. Similarly,<br \/>\nin 2006, his alma mater celebrated him as the Most<br \/>\nDistinguished Alumnus and in the ensuing year he was given<br \/>\nthe highly esteemed Uvwie Merit Award, for his unflagging<br \/>\nphilanthropy and commitment to the development of the<br \/>\nkingdom. The Federal University of Petroleum Resources,<br \/>\nEffurun (FUPRE) awarded him a Doctor of Philosophy degree<br \/>\n(Honoris causa) during their 10 th year anniversary in the year<br \/>\n2017.<\/p>\n<p>6. NATIONAL LEADERSHIP<br \/>\nBeyond the confines of his community, on 13 th August, 2008, His<br \/>\nMajesty emerged the Programme Chairman of the National<br \/>\nDevelopment Summit of Traditional Rulers, Nigeria\u2019s most<br \/>\ndominant non-political forum of traditional rulers, inaugurated<br \/>\nby late President Umaru Musa Yar\u2019adua, to foster national<br \/>\ncohesion, peace and progress. The Summit is attended yearly in<br \/>\nAbuja by scores of delegates from virtually all the states of the<br \/>\nfederation. To date, he is the Chairman, Governing Council of<br \/>\nthe Summit. The summit is co-hosted by National Orientation<br \/>\nAgency (NOA), National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC),<br \/>\nTraditional Rulers Development and Welfare Initiative,<br \/>\n(TRDWI), with Center for Traditional Rulers Advancement,<br \/>\n(CTRA), as facilitator.<\/p>\n<p>7. LEADERSHIP PROWESS<br \/>\nHis Royal Majesty, Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso, Abe I, JP,<br \/>\nOON, the Ovie Of Uvwie Kingdom, is a great leader who<br \/>\nrecognizes that people have diverse gifts and talents and he<br \/>\nadopts significant philosophies that help to harness those<br \/>\npotentials toward the common goal.<br \/>\nIn his kingdom, he has brought to the fore his immense<br \/>\nmanagerial skills garnered in his many years in government<br \/>\nservice and management training abroad, to propel and fulfill<br \/>\ncommunity dreams. He runs an inclusive traditional<br \/>\nadministration, making the best use of best brains in specific<br \/>\ntasks, including planning, decision-making and problem-solving.<br \/>\nPerhaps nothing has endeared him more to his people than his<br \/>\nnatural willingness to welcome superior ideas at all times.<br \/>\nLately, he created more sub-clans known as Etches, to bring<br \/>\nadministration further closer to the citizens.<\/p>\n<p>8. ROYAL GLAMOUR<br \/>\nWhen he shows up at occasions in his distinctive regal gait,<br \/>\nadorning his full royal regalia, he is always irresistibly eye-<br \/>\ncatching, resplendent and exquisite, cheered to the hilt by his<br \/>\never-thrilled loyalists and admirers. He is naturally good-<br \/>\nlooking, grandiose and indeed, a man of the people, well-loved<br \/>\nand venerated by both the lower and upper echelons of the<br \/>\nsociety. Ovie is acknowledged as a fervid adventurer and an<br \/>\nuncommon repository of wisdom and experience.<br \/>\nHe is incontrovertibly a distinguished royal father, with lovable<br \/>\npeculiarities and enviable garlands of leadership in diverse<br \/>\nspheres of human endeavor. GEOGRGE JOJAKEME AMURUN(JP) GCOP.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Born over 9 decades ago into the noble family of Chief Gigbinaku Amurun-Agbaisi Descendant of Eruohwo royal \u00a0Family in Uvwie Local Government Area and Madam Mewhoroine Edah &#8211; Olodi Descendant of Idama Royal Family of \u00a0Okere Urhobo Kingdom in Warri-South Local Government Area both of Delta State of Nigeria.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">As a young man, Chief (Dr.) George Jojakeme Amurun(JP) GCOP was intelligent, \u00a0 smart and versatile. He attended African Primary School now Alegbo Primary School, Effurun Delta State, inthe late 30s \u00a0later St Partrick \u00a0Catholic \u00a0School, Isale-Eko Lagos in early 40s for his primary Education. During this period,he was mission boy and served under Rev.Father \u00a0Fitz Gerad, Fitz Simon, Fitz Patrick and Rev. Father Slatry founder and principal of St. Finbarrs College (Akoka Lagos)<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">At St. Joseph Catholic Church Mission Elegbata Lagos. Due to his quest for further knowledge, he was admitted into Colony college of Commerce, Lagos (now defunct) between 1948 -1951, in 1952 he was admitted into City College Lagos between 1952-1954. He thereafter enrolled in the Institute of Advance Management Studies. London between 1955-1958.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Chief (Dr.) George J .Amurun (JP) GCOP work experience includes;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u2756 Chairman\/Managing Director Brezina Nigeria Limited in the 60s, an American and Nigerian Company with headquarter in Rapid City in South Dakota United State of America (USA).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u2756 Among his co-directors are Robert Brazina (Amercian National) President Brazina Construction Co Incorp.
