\"Joe<\/a>The LITE-Africa Leadership Institute at its inaugural lecture in Warri, Delta state has honoured the world acclaimed human rights activist, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin for her numerous battle against injustices in the Nigeria society just as she called for an end to terror and the release of the Chibok girls<\/p>\n

In a welcome address, Life-Africa Leadership Institute Coordinator, Mr. Joel Bisina said Dr. Okei-Odumakin was being honoured for the value she gave the voiceless in the society and her devotion to serve the society<\/p>\n

In an opening remark, \u00a0Barr. Femi-Aborisade said he hoped that LITE-African Leadership Institute members were aware of the responsibility they have taken on to join hands in transforming the society which was what Dr. Okei-Odumakin stood for.<\/p>\n

Barr. Aborisade said the purpose of life was to emancipate the poor and that people must choose whether they wanted to serve the rich or the poor and regretted that currently about one per cent of the population controls about 85 per cent of the nation\u2019s wealth. He said Dr. Okei-Odumakin belong to the finest Nigerians who have decided to life for others.<\/p>\n

Professor Isaac Olawale Albert of the University of Ibadan who gave the inaugural lecture titled, \u201cTrack VI Diplomacy: Human Rights Activism as a strategic Leadership said it would be an embarrassment to our Creator if any human being was living on earth without contributing anything to transform the society<\/p>\n

He said those who were contributing actively to transform societies were leaders and described leadership as the capacity to translate visions. \u201cLeadership is derived from what you do and not the useless offices you hold. It is how we influence society\u201d<\/p>\n

The Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan who was represented by his Commissioner for Agriculture said the governor believed in equity and justice and that that was why he refused to sign death warrants just as he praised Dr. Okei-Odumakin for her contribution for the upliftment of the poor<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
