Leave is hereby granted to the Claimants to serve. Suit is hereby adjourned to 20th day of January, 2022.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Why some lawyers claimed that by adding the word Ante Bullem, the order meant that parties to the dispute should revert to when the dispute began, that is as when the EDC was dissolved by the local government chairman, Mr. Ramson Onoyake, some others are saying that it is as when the case was instituted. Both parties may now have to return to the court for a clear interpretation of this order.<\/p>\n<p>The word status Quo according to the dictionary is &#8220;the current situation : the way things are now. Whereas Status Quo Ante Bullem is a Latin phrase meaning &#8220;the situation as it existed before the war&#8221;. Why the Judge use this term when should have simply said status quo?<\/p>\n<p>In an interim order last week, dated 2nd December, 2021 and signed by Justice Mrs P.O. Onajife Kuejubola of the Ekpan High Court and Mrs Elohor Siakpere, an assistant Director, the Court ordered as follows: \u201cowing to the peculiar nature of this case, I hereby ordered that all parties maintain status quo ante bellum. Leave is granted the claimants to serve. Suit N0 HCF\/39\/2021\u00a0 is adjourned to 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0January 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It will be recalled that in October 26, 2021, the Traditional Council of Chiefs, Eche R\u2019Oriokpor in Uvwie Local Government Area(ULG) and some members of Ekpan Development Committee(EDC) dragged the Uvwie LG Chairman, Mr. Ramson Onoyake and 31 others to an Ekpan High court over the illegal dissolution of the EDC which was constituted by the traditional council, praying that their action should be declared null and void as well as demanding for N200m damages.<\/p>\n<p>In the suit filed by Chief(Dr.) Robert Ejifoma and Chief Eyimofe Akemu on behalf of Eche R\u2019Oriokpor and Mr. Steven Akemu and Miss Lilian Uruesheyi for EDC, the claimants are asking among others \u00a0the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>An order setting aside and\/or annulling and\/or cancelling and\/or abrogating and\/or otherwise declaring completely null and void the purported announcement of the dissolution of the EDC in the electronic media and\/or by whatever medium and\/or at all in violation and\/or contrary to the express provisions of the constitution of the EDC and\/or before the expiration of their fixed tenure of three years which does not elapse until and\/or about the 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of September, 2023<\/li>\n<li>An order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants and\/or any person and\/or persons claiming through and\/or from parading themselves, performing the functions and\/or acting in the capacity and\/or as executives and\/or holding any office in the EDC before the expiration of the tenure of the claimants which said tenure subsist until and\/or about the 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of September 2023\u2026.<\/li>\n<li>The sum of N200,000,000.00 being general, aggravated and exemplary damages against the defendants for the wanton acts of illegality, impunity and misconduct jointly and severally and\/or for the unlawful roles they played in the dissolution of the claimants EDC and\/or for their undue interference in the activities and\/or affairs of the claimants<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Among the documents presented by D.O Jarikre from V. E.
