{"id":2611,"date":"2014-10-12T21:22:09","date_gmt":"2014-10-12T21:22:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=2611"},"modified":"2014-10-12T21:22:09","modified_gmt":"2014-10-12T21:22:09","slug":"gunmen-kidnap-ex-nba-president-wali-in-rivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=2611","title":{"rendered":"GUNMEN KIDNAP EX-NBA PRESIDENT, WALI IN RIVERS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unknown gunmen at about\u00a08pm on Saturday\u00a0kidnapped the immediate past President of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, <a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Okey-Wali.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2612\" alt=\"Okey-Wali\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Okey-Wali-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Okey-Wali-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Okey-Wali.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>, in Rumualogu, Obio\/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.<br \/>\nIt was gathered that the four abductors trailed Wali, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, to Rumualogu, near the Choba-Uniport Road before kidnapping the victim.<br \/>\nAccording to the Police, the former NBA President was going home while he was kidnapped along the Choba-Uniport Road on the outskirt of Port Harcourt.<br \/>\nPolice Public Relations Officer, DSP, Ahmad Muhammad, told Daily Newswatch\u00a0 that Wali&#8217;s car which was abandoned at the Ozuoba junction, was later recovered by security operatives from the state police command.<br \/>\nThe kidnappers had trailed Wali to the Ozuoba junction, stopped in front of him, shot into the air and dragged him out of his car and reportedly whisked him off\u00a0 through the Choba River in a speed boat.<br \/>\nMuhammad who said the police are on the trail of the kidnappers stated that police gave the kidnappers a hot chase and would have been apprehended save for the speed boat with which they sped off with the victim.<br \/>\nMohammad who confirmed the\u00a0 incident\u00a0on Sunday\u00a0afternon said investigation was on to rescue the ex-NBA President as well as apprehend those behind his abduction.<br \/>\nHe said,&#8221;As soon as the police got the information of the abduction the Ex-NBA President, we (Police) quickly swung into action where his vehicle was recovered along Ozuoba water front.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;We are still on their trail with a view of rescuing him safely and possible apprehension&#8221;, Mohammad added.<br \/>\nWali, an indigene of Rivers State was elected as the 26th President of the NBA in 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unknown gunmen at about\u00a08pm on Saturday\u00a0kidnapped the immediate past President of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, , in Rumualogu, Obio\/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
