By Betty Idialu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=19271&amp;ad_type=81&amp;rl=1800\" width=\"336\" height=\"280\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Residents of\u00a0 Warri and environs have continued to groan over the high\u00a0cost of food items which traders have attributed to the parlous state of the Warri \/Benin road.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0A visit to Effurun and Igbudu markets in Uvwie and Warri South Council Areas respectively , revealed that there is\u00a0 surge in the prices of consumer food items like garri, yam, plantain tomatoes\u00a0 among others.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Mrs. Rachael Udoka yam seller at the Effurun market\u00a0 while lamenting\u00a0 decline in\u00a0 sales, said ,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;Market nor dey\u00a0 as before because thing don dear well ,well, this Benin road wey bad so dey affect our market because nahim dey make the things add money.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8221; Before,\u00a0 where we go pay #600\u00a0 go, na we dey pay more than #1,500 because the drivers dey complain say the bad toad dey spoil their motor , too much&#8230;all this one so ,we go add join our money make we for fit make small thing as gain.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;If government go fit do the road, e go good for everybody. In the same\u00a0 \u00a0vein, a tomatoes seller simply known as Mama Ehis at\u00a0 the Igbudu market also said , &#8221;\u00a0 The load too dear, dem say the road\u00a0 too bad. This plate of tomatoes we dey sell for #200 before but now na #500 because of the transport.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Respite came the way of motorists and travelers along the Warri Benin road\u00a0 after the Delta State Government said they have released a\u00a0 whopping sum of 1billion Naira to fix the failed portions of the road few months ago .<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0However, this temporal relief to the road users\u00a0 was\u00a0 short lived as a result of relapsing of the road after the maintenance work which made the road worse off.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">There had been public outrage over\u00a0 deplorable state of the road as\u00a0 \u00a0well meaning Nigerians have continued to lend their voices ,calling on the government both at federal and state levels\u00a0 to as a matter of urgency , fix the road which has been a nightmare for\u00a0 travelers. .<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0 The Delta state government had earlier in her response to those calling on the state government to attend to the road, and recoup the money later from the federal government,\u00a0 said, the road being a federal road had already been awarded to a contractor, a decision the government later rescinded and awarded the contract to Obakpor J. U.
