{"id":22567,"date":"2019-07-13T06:55:22","date_gmt":"2019-07-13T06:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=22567"},"modified":"2019-07-13T06:55:22","modified_gmt":"2019-07-13T06:55:22","slug":"shell-increases-presence-in-delta-state-gives-n242b-to-fg-and-n15b-to-nndc-in-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=22567","title":{"rendered":"Shell Increases Presence in Delta State, Gives N242b to FG and N15b to NNDC in 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><code><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=19005&amp;ad_type=81&amp;rl=1800\" width=\"336\" height=\"280\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\n<p>The federal government in 2018 received a total of N242.4billion from Shell Companies in Nigeria while the Niger Delta Development Commission(NNDC) \u00a0got about N15 billion, just as it highlighted its increasing presence in Delta State<\/p>\n<p>These facts were contained in Shell in Nigeria briefing notes presented to Journalists in Warri at the weekend by a team, led by the Head, Government Relations(West), Mr. Alaye Dokubo on behalf of \u00a0SPDC General Manager External Relations, Igo Weli<\/p>\n<p>According to the briefing notes, Shell companies in Nigeria awarded contracts worth N393.9 billion to Nigerian companies during the period and spent N17.03 billion on social investment projects<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Igo Weli, enumerated ongoing projects and social investment schemes in Delta state, particularly its operations at Forcados, the Sea Eagle Floating Production, Storage and Offloading FPSO) vessel,\u00a019 Producing Fields within four Production Nodes\u00a0and several gas projects.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Weli said, \u201cSPDC JV has strong commitment to the development of Delta State and Nigeria through its delivery of positive social outcomes and strong relationships with stakeholders and\u00a0communities to support business growth and social license to operate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He said the company\u2019s ongoing projects, which include Forcados Yokri Integrated, Southern Swamp Associated Gas Solution, Escravos NGC and Otumara Associated Gas Gathering, point to growth in its business in Delta State.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Weli asked\u00a0stakeholders in the Niger Delta to make concerted efforts to curb the incessant vandalism of crude oil-bearing pipelines, highlighting the danger of continuous sabotage to people and environment in the region.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the SPDC JV develops its assets and facilities, it also implements several development projects for host communities, covering economic empowerment, human capital development and provision of social infrastructure\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Weli said, \u201cAs evidence of our commitment to Delta State, in 2018, SPDC JV spent more than N390 million<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>on development projects in Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) clusters<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>on roads, schools, town halls and markets, award of secondary school and university scholarships as well as microcredit programmes for small businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since 2013,\u00a0174 youths from Delta State have benefited from\u00a0the special Regional Shell LiveWIRE programme, a scheme that enables young entrepreneurs turn ideas into viable businesses.
