Won&#8217;t Ban Keke &#8211; Okowa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><code><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=18889&amp;ad_type=81&amp;rl=1800\" width=\"336\" height=\"280\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, debunk rumours making the round that the state government may soon ban the use of KEKE for transportation, pointing out that such black propaganda can only emanate from the opposition and hardened political detractors.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said government would not ban keke as a means of transport because of its socioeconomic value, adding that buses and taxi remained expensive means of transportation due to high cost of purchase and maintenance viewed against the consequences of the poor state of the nation&#8217;s economy.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Governor said during his &#8220;Media Appreciation Meeting&#8221; interface held at the Unity Hall, Government House on Thursday June 6, 2019 that his administration appreciated the massive support and quality friendship which members of the pen profession accorded him and government of Delta State during the first tenure; and urged the leadership of Delta NUJ to sustain the temple as they form common synergy to build a Stronger Delta State, in the second tenure.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">According to him his administration will continue to partner with Journalists and the State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), because of the constitutional roles both the executive and press play in nation building.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He was quick to add that once the nation&#8217;s economy gets better, government will surely encourage and support improved means of transportation in terms of comfort, low cost and spread.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In his response, Chairman of Delta State Chapter of NUJ,\u00a0 Mr Mike Ikeogwu appealed to the governor to assist the union financially so as to complete, furnish and occupy the NUJ secretariat under construction.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He described Gov Okowa as a consummate and God fearing leader who consistently applied prudence, transparency and accountability in managing the affairs of the state and urged his colleagues in the media to continue to support government in its quest to build a Stronger Delta State.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The media event was attended by Secretary to Delta State Government, Barrister Chiedu Ebie, Head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko Mni, Chief of Staff, Olorogun David Edevbie, Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Rt Hon Solomon Funkekeme, General Manager of Pointer Newspapers, et al.<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=18889&amp;ad_type=81&amp;rl=1800\" width=\"336\" height=\"280\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, debunk rumours making the round that the state government may soon ban the use of KEKE for transportation, pointing out that such black propaganda can only emanate from the opposition and hardened political detractors.
