{"id":19146,"date":"2018-06-08T21:16:04","date_gmt":"2018-06-08T21:16:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=19146"},"modified":"2018-06-08T21:16:04","modified_gmt":"2018-06-08T21:16:04","slug":"iyc-condemns-invasion-of-bayelsa-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=19146","title":{"rendered":"IYC CONDEMNS INVASION OF BAYELSA COMMUNITY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><code><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide has condemned the invasion of Oluasiri\u00a0 \u00a0Community of Nembe Local Government Area in Bayelsa State leading to the mindless killing of at least four people, many injuries and the destruction of many property.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The National Spokesman of the IYC Daniel Dasimaka expressed the disappointment of the IYC over what he describes as a satanic and sadistic assault on Ijaw people in recent times.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The IYC has been informed of the mindless and ghastly attack on Oluasiri, an important Ijaw town in Nembe LGA of Bayelsa State on the 7th of June, 2018 by the men of the Joint Task Force code named Operation Delta Safe,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">leading to the untimely\u00a0 death of four persons including a nursing mother and her child. We totally condemn this wicked attack on our people under the guise of fighting Oil bunkering. No amount of Oil in our land is worth the life of any Ijaw person.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=16387&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0\u201cFor the avoidance of doubt we want the world to know that the IYC is totally against the current wave of unwarranted systematic assault on Ijaw people of recent. Earlier this year, Toro-Ndoro community in Bayelsa State was invaded\u00a0 by the military. Also, it would be recalled that last year alone not less than seven Ijaw communities were invaded by the military. Soldiers invaded and burnt down Ajakpa community, an Ijaw community in Arogbo clan in Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo state. Just as Ajakurama, another Ijaw Community in Edo state, just to name a few were attacked\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The IYC image-maker condemned the attack and killing of the townspeople\u00a0 in Oluasiri\u00a0 which according to him is a\u201d vicious, cruel and savage act\u201d that has unleashed untold sorrow, tears and pain on many innocent inhabitants of the community\u00a0 and rendering the survivors homeless without food, water and basic things of life.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cIt is quite paradoxical that an outfit that is called Operation Delta Safe is turning out to be the killers in the Delta. If the military has evidence of criminality in any town, be it, illegal refining, Bunkering, or what have you, there are more civilized rules of engagement in tackling such by a Professional military\u00a0 rather than invading it and killing defenseless citizens that they are supposed to defend.\u00a0 What happened to seizing homes and forfeitures that applies everywhere also?
