{"id":17343,"date":"2017-12-29T21:47:59","date_gmt":"2017-12-29T21:47:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=17343"},"modified":"2017-12-29T21:47:59","modified_gmt":"2017-12-29T21:47:59","slug":"why-whatsapp-will-stop-working-in-some-smartphones-from-jan-1st","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=17343","title":{"rendered":"WHY WHATSAPP WILL STOP WORKING IN SOME SMARTPHONES FROM  JAN 1st"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><code><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">WhatsApp is about to stop working on a range of old smartphones, meaning owners will have to buy newer gadgets if they want to continue using the chat app to the best of its capabilities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On New Year\u2019s Day, WhatsApp will \u2018remove support\u2019 for a number of devices \u2013 which updated versions of the software can no longer be installed on them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This means owners of these clapped out gizmos won\u2019t be able to enjoy new features or plugs for security holes which are often introduced in updates.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">From January 1, 2018, anyone still using phones which run BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10 or Windows Phone 8.0 will no longer be able to update their WhatsApp software.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In a blog post, WhatsApp wrote: \u201cWhile these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don\u2019t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app\u2019s features in the future.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=15526&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThis was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cIf you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Last year, WhatsApp dropped its support for Nokia Symbian S60 phones.
