No. GP\/HE\/14\/T\/250 was titled Appointment of Commissioner into DSIEC was addressed to the Speaker of the House, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, and dated 19th September, 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The governor also nominated six others including the wife of the member representing Warri North Constituency, Hon. Michael Diden also known as Ejele, who is the governor eye in the DTHA, Mrs. Light Oritseweyinmi Diden as commissioners.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Others the governor is seeking the house to confirm as commissioners into DSIEC are; Mr. Fredrick Oduje Ulakpa, Mr. Friday Edmund Siemode, Mr. James Eruorhevwameme Umukoro, Mr. Gregory Chukwuma Edeme and Mrs. Yvonne Ovuevuo Wagbatsoma.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Okowa read, \u201cIn exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 198 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended, I wish to submit hereunder, the list of nominees for appointment as members of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC).\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The governor urged the lawmakers to give the letter speedy consideration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cI will greatly appreciate if early actions is taken, as usual, to place the names of the nominees before the Honourable House for consideration and confirmation to enable me effect their appointments as required by the constitution\u201d, Governor Okowa concluded.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=14429&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Governor Okowa had earlier today signed into law the new DSIEC Act assured that the with the elections will be conducted into the local government councils as the tenure of the present officials expires in October.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">At the occasion which was witnessed by some members of the state executive council, the Governor noted that \u201cthe signing into law of the DSIEC Bill 2017 is very important at this point in time, the law will strengthen the activities of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission and I believe that with this action, members of the Commission will be appointed to take office for the smooth conduct of the local government elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">He lauded the vibrancy and cooperation of the Delta State Legislators in making laws that will ensure good governance, respect for rule of law and progressive society, stated that his administration will continue to support local government councils to offset their salary arrears.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Throwing more light on the situation with the local government councils, the Governor disclosed that some of the local government councils are heavily indebted to their staff as a result of having a lot of teachers and employees.
