{"id":14791,"date":"2017-06-16T21:38:31","date_gmt":"2017-06-16T21:38:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=14791"},"modified":"2017-06-16T21:38:31","modified_gmt":"2017-06-16T21:38:31","slug":"delta-information-commissioner-challenges-journalists-to-uphold-professionalism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/?p=14791","title":{"rendered":"DELTA INFORMATION COMMISSIONER CHALLENGES JOURNALISTS TO UPHOLD PROFESSIONALISM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><code><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- www.deltanewsroom.com --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2163942495525027\" data-ad-slot=\"1411897411\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/code><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ has been challenged to uphold unity,objectivity and professionalism in all its activities.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Delta State commissioner for information Mr Patrick Ukah gave the charge in Asaba when he played host to the newly elected Delta State Executive \u00a0Council of the NUJ \u00a0led by the state Chairman Comrade Michael Ikeogwu.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Mr Ukah said journalism anchored on high ethical conduct will not only promote development but will also advance peace and unity in all segments of the society.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He congratulated the Chairman and other state Executive on their successful election and swearing in and urged them to be magnanimous in victory in addition to carrying all along in the scheme of things.<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alternativeadvert.com\/show.php?z=30&amp;pl=13481&amp;ad_type=59&amp;rl=180\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0 \u00a0The commissioner enjoined media practitioners in the state to partner government in promoting the policies and programmes of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa based on facts and not fiction.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He assured the NUJ executive that the union&#8217;s Secretariat being financed by the state government will be ready for commissioning soon adding that a conducive working environment will be provided for Journalists to operate.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">On the tour of local governments in the state by Governor Okowa Mr Ukah said it has brought to the fore that the administration has littered the three senatorial districts with landmark projects even in the midst of economic recession.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He sued for the support of Deltans in building a new Delta where peace and unity will take the centre stage.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/UKAH.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-14792\" src=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/UKAH-298x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/UKAH-298x300.jpg 298w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/UKAH-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/UKAH-80x80.jpg 80w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/UKAH-40x40.jpg 40w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/UKAH-64x64.jpg 64w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/UKAH-75x75.jpg 75w, http:\/\/newsroom247.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/UKAH.jpg 392w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 298px) 100vw, 298px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The state Chairman of the Delta State Council of the NUJ Comrade Michael Ikeogwu said the visit was to introduce the new executive to the commissioner and to pledge readiness of members in promoting the policies of government without bais.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Comrade Ikeogwu lauded Mr Ukah for his neutrality before,during and after the election and reminded members of the need to contribute their quota in bringing the needed transformation to the Union.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He thanked the state government for the Secretariat project and appealed to the contractor to redouble effort for the quick completion of the job.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said strict adherence to the core values of the profession will be the watch word of his tenure.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ has been challenged to uphold unity,objectivity and professionalism in all its activities.
